Breaking News:One Of The Bank On Marina Street Gutted By Fire

 Damage of the fire is yet to be known but the Lagos fire department and a few other emergency agencies are currently on the scene.The fire outbreak reportedly started
from the topmost part of the building located in Lagos Island.

The Central Bank of Nigeria office located in the highbrow Marina Street on the Lagos was yesterday evening gutted by fire with properties worth millions of naira destroyed.Correspondent gathered that a thick smoke of fire was seen emanating from the third floor of the building around 5:10 pm after the workers had closed for work. But the fire has been put out by the fire fighters.
 An eyewitness who gave his name as Michael Adeleye, said, “CBN building is on fire. We just passed through the place now and the building is burning. The fire service people are not doing much”.

Meanwhile, there was drama while the fire was still raging, as the cameras of two photo journalists from National Mirror, Yinka Adeparusi and Demola Akinlabi, were seized and smashed by police officers attached to the Lion Building Police Station for daring to take pictures of the burning scene.


Adeparusi was seen being bundled away by the police officers and taken to the Lion Building Police Station.

Confirming the fire incident, the director, Lagos State Fire Service, Mr. Rasak Fadipe, said the fire service got an emergency call that the apex bank was on fire around 5:45 pm after the fire started around 5:10 pm.

The CBN has however assured that no record was lost in the incident.
