A passenger airliner belonging to German low-cost airline Germanwings, which is a subsidiary of Lufthansa has crashed in the French Alps.
The plane which was reportedly travelling between Barcelona and Dusseldorf, crashed between Barcelonnette and Digne.
According to BBC, the plane was reported to be carrying 142 passengers and 6 crew members.
Both Airbus and Germanwings have said they aware of the reports but cannot yet confirm them.
Last week, Lufthansa pilots embarked on a strike action over pension and retirement age, forcing the group's subsidiaries including Germanwings, to cover the routes affected by the strike action.
No further details or number of casualties is known at this time.
