Eddie Ray Routh A Former Marine Sentenced To LIfe In Prison

The killer of “American Sniper” author, Chris Kyle, has been sentenced to life in prison after jurors rejected his insanity plea.
Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine,
is expected to spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole after he gunned down Kyle and his friend, Chad Littlefield at a Texas shooting range on February 2, 2013.
The case has drawn widespread interest due to Kyle’s autobiography being turned into a hit movie of the same name which was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Bradley Cooper.

Kyle was a former Navy SEAL and was also credited with the most confirmed kills of any U.S. military sniper.

The author and Littlefield had taken 27-year-old Routh to the shooting range after Routh's mother asked Kyle to help her troubled son who had served in Iraq and Haiti.

Routh shot the two men with about 12 or 13 bullets when their backs were turned and guns holstered but later claimed that he had a delusion that they were planning to kill him.

Their bodies were later found by a staff of the facility and Routh was arrested the same day after confessing the murder to his sister.
